Error codes
I had the following error codes:
OBD:
- P1425
- P1472
- P0102
And the following three relating to the oxygen sensors: P1196, P1198, P0134
VAG listed the following codes:
- 17833 - EVAP Purge Valve (N80): Short to Ground P1425 - 35-00 - -
- 17955 - Boost Pressure Regulation Valve (N75): Short to Ground P1547 - 35-00 - -
- 17880 - EVAP Leak Detection Pump: Short to Ground P1472 - 35-00 - -
- 16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low P0102 - 35-00 - -
And several others relating to the oxygen sensors
(Complete list)

Once I stopped trying to save money by not buying the Bentley manual, finding out what all these codes have in common was a 1 hour job:
All of these sensors are powered by the fuel pump relay thru the number 29 fuse (20 Amp).
For me, just that single fuse solved all of the problem codes above. But you really need to get your hands on the DVD version of the Bentley manual to find this out from the tech bulletins / troubleshooting procedures and the included wiring diagrams.
Note: a VAG is required before you waste time and money troubleshooting an OBD code. Find someone local with a VAG and a Bentley manual. You can contact me for help as well.

WARNING WARNING WARNING
IF YOUR CAR HAS ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CODES
p1425 Tank Vent.Valve Short to Ground. N80 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve
p0102 MAF or VAF A circuit low input
p0134 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Bank 1 Sensor 1
p1196 O2 Sensor Heater Circ.,Bank1-Sensor1 Electrical Malfunction
p0140 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Bank 1 Sensor 2
p1198 O2 Sensor Heater Circ.,Bank1-Sensor2 Electrical Malfunction
p1472 EVAP Emission Contr.LDP Circ Short to Ground. V144 - Leak Detection Pump (LDP)
P0422 Main Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
Operating your engine with a failed MAF, oxygen sensors, and the like will have the car computer resort to GUESSING AND WILL ALWAYS OPERATE TOO RICH. This will produce poisonous exhaust, but more importantly IT WILL DUMP UNBURNED GASOLINE IN THE EXHAUST, WHERE IT WILL BE BURNED BY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, MAKING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TOO HOT. CONTINUING TO OPERATE THE CAR ON A RICH MIXTURE WILL IRREVERSIBLY RUIN THE VERY EXPENSIVE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
