Uneven or diagonal brake pad wear

If you are experiencing uneven or diagonal brake pad wear, then inspect the slide pins immediately. They must be lubricated and slide smooth enough so that your finger can move them in and out. It is also of benefit for the slide pins to push out a bit after you remove the pressure of your finger.

If the slide pins are not moving this smooth, or not moving at all, then extract, clean, and lubricate them immediately.

This can manifest in any number of other ways, such as only one of the two pads being worn out, with the other pad showing significantly less wear. For additional symptoms and causes of brake pad wear consult the carton box in which new pads are given to you in, or a Haynes manual for your car.
