Problems with using Microsoft Office for double-sided printing

Surprisingly, I have run into several problems when attempting to use Micro$oft Office 2010 Word to format documents for double-sided (and other special) printing, and in attempting to print those documents out.

Problems I ran across in preparing the document:

Margins are not shifted (mirrored) for double-sided printing (for right and left pages separately). Both margins have to be set to the same value to avoid problems when binding. There may be a solution with custom layout options.

Word crashes if a booklet is attempted to be printed. Solution: Export to PDF. Then print the PDF document with Adobe Reader. I have an article on this method.

Table of Contents should not be created manually. Pages would have to be re-entered any time layout changes. They should be made as links to sections.

There is no option to invert pages for manual double-sided printing. It is necessary to invert pages manually instead after the printout is done.
