Firefox download manager 2 files limit fix

I have to say that the Download Manager is the weakest part of Firefox. Normally, Firefox with the SessionSaver extension is nearly indestructible (those who have no idea, find out!), but the Download Manager has dropped a huge amount of my files.

Another limitation is that it can only download two files from the same site at the time. Here is a solution.

Type in

about:config

into the address bar. You will see a long list of options that are not all are covered in Preferences.

You need to find the entry

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server

it will probably contain the value of 2. Change it to 8 and you can download that many files at the same time!

Note: do not change this if you have a slow connection. Then you should get a good download manager.

Note: some users might have to change the following two entries to the same value as the one above as well on the occasion the above one does not work:

network.http.max-connections-per-server

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy

Enjoy!
