How much of a hard drive capacity should I utilize?
According to a Data Recovery specialist, a hard drive should not be more than 50% utilized. If it is completely full, then the hard drive head arm must travel across the whole surface of the HD very quickly back and forth, wearing the mechanism out.
It is still important to defragment your hard drives, no matter what Windows says by continuously dumbing down the defragger utility.
