My GPS is slow in finding signal after I turn it on

If your GPS is becoming slow in acquiring signal after you turn it on, or your GPS gives you wrong directions, then it is time to update it.

GPS devices should be connected to the computer monthly. They will download updates to find the signal much quicker, receive map updates, and maybe even firmware updates.

If you have had your GPS devices for more than a year or two, you may have to need to buy a map upgrade as well. Note that minor or community--generated map corrections are usually free.
