How should I care for my computer?

1) Blow out dust regularly. If there are (foam) filters installed, they must be cleaned regularly or they will severely limit airflow. Do not use canned air -- it's expensive. when blowing out dust, do it outside, with a mask if you need to, and make sure to not overspin the fans. If you blow at fans, they will rotate faster than they are rated to, and will fail faster. Use short bursts, or secure the fan. Be gentle, don't pull out any wires.

2) Install surge suppressors, and UPS if you can.

3) Separate your data from your operating system.
