1and1 Webspace Explorer 'requires a more current browser' error

If you get the error when trying to access Webspace Explorer:

System Requirements

The system requirements are not met for this application!

WebspaceExplorer requires a more current browser, such as Internet Explorer 6.0 or above (Windows) or Firefox. JavaScript must be enabled.
This page cannot be displayed when the resolution is less than 1024 x 768 pixels.

Then you are not alone. This application has stopped working more than a year ago with the modern Firefox and Internet Explorer versions.

There are two solutions:

1) (I could not get this to work myself) Install User Agent Switcher add-on for Firefox, and configure it for the following:

navigator.userAgent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv: Gecko/20120306 Firefox/3.6.28
navigator.appCodeName Mozilla
navigator.appName Netscape
navigator.appVersion 5.0 (Windows; en-US)
navigator.platform Win32

The following XML can be used to import this browser's user agent into the User Agent Switcher extension.

<useragentswitcher><useragent description="User Agent" useragent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv: Gecko/20120306 Firefox/3.6.28" appcodename="Mozilla" appname="Netscape" appversion="5.0 (Windows; en-US)" platform="Win32" vendor="" vendorsub=""/></useragentswitcher>

2) Install a portable Firefox 3.6. Note: portable and installed versions of Firefox cannot be run at the same time (side by side!). One has to be closed first to launch the other.
