Comment: I purchased a moneygram money order to pay my rent with. I have no idea what "account number" is suppose to be on there? CONFUSED?!?!?! Someone please explain what "account number" means?
Comment: I'm never sure how to fill them out since I use them infrequently but this gave a perfect explanation. Thanks so much!
Comment: I bought a Money Gram to put money on my son's account who is in prison. The prison would not accept the Money Gram. It is filled-out to him with my address. I do have the receipt. What do I need to do in order to get my money back??
Comment: Good and easy Explanation. Great.. Thanks... I wondered why Moneygram did not provide any info to fill the form on back side, too...
Comment: These money grams are very badly worded. We shouldn't have to do a Google search to fill out three simple lines.
Comment: Super jzaezd about getting that know-how.
Comment: Thank you so much for the information. This made it very clear on how to fill out the Address line and the purchaser, Signer for drawer line above it. No where on back of money order does it give instructions on how to fill out - that is crazy.
Comment: This page was very easy to understand.Thank you so much for the help!!
Comment: Where it says touch to validate, do I do that or does someone else?
Comment: do the moneygram money orders have an account number ? if so,where can i find it?
Since you did it thru a credit card you are in luck. Talk to the credit card company and explain the situation. One of two things are possible:
1) They can eat the loss and return you the money
2) They can talk to moneygram, and temporarily deposit the money back on your credit card, until moneygram refunds the money to the credit card. And oh, those companies start listening when they get a three way phone call between them, you, and your credit company representative.
As for trying to alter the money order, I advice against it. Don't make a bad situation worse with altering of financial documents. Yet another solution is if you know the person you were supposed to give the money to, but misspelt their name, is to see if they can still cash that money order with the wrong name. Good luck!
I have a question. I bought a money order to pay someone for a loan they gave me. My wife had misplaced it, and so I had to pay outta my pocket. Well just the other day I found it. It couldn't have came at a better time!
Well I went to cash it and realized it was made out to the wrong person, so I write over the name changing it to mine. No where will cash it, and MoneyGram says I'll have to send it in, get charged $15, and wait 30-65 days to get a new one back. I have the receipt from Wal-Mart showing I bought it, the receipt from the Money order, my credit card statement showing I bought it, not good enough. The only thing that changed was Pay To The Order, not the signature. I think this is bull****, and unfair. MoneyGram refuses to work with me so basically the question is this. Is there anyway to remove the name and cash it instead of getting ripped off by MoneyGram and having to wait that long? I would appreciate any help!
Comment: Thanks! Very clear instructions. best site i've found on these kinds of money orders!
Comment: I recently purchased a MoneyGram Money Order from CVS/Pharmacy and the address line looks different from the picture you show of the money order from Walmart. I bought 3 MoneyGram money orders all together, but one was bought from a different store, and that money order looks like the Walmart sample which has ADDRESS/ on the 3rd line. The 2 bought from CVS says, "MONEY ORDER ADDRESS/
GIFT CERTIFICATE: RECIPIENT." Can you please tell me whose address goes on that line?

Comment: Thanks a lot for putting the directions so simple and easy to understand. Especially with the photo showing that it was exactly like the one I had bought.I was also confused about the address line.Thank you!
Comment: This site was VERY helpful. I love technology!
Comment: Hello Roseann. I have myself called MoneyGram and has confirmed that it is YOUR ADDRESS THAT'S WRITTEN DOWN. My website is correct on this.
Comment: I recently purchased a money order for the first time a t a CVS store. I was a very confused about the address line and if I should put the persons address, it was going to or mine. It said recipients’ address. Not one employee knew which address to put in. He then called the money gram and they gave them the correct information which was wrongly stated on the money gram. I did a Google search on how to fill out your money order and was shocked to see it was stated as being confusing! I was even misinformed by several of CVS employees when I was told… “NOT TO PUT MY ADDRESS!” It didn’t seem correct and I did a search , Why in the world won’t you fix the mistake ?!
Comment: Thank you so much you are the only website I found that explained exactly what to put on each line!
