Wet electronic devices

Tip: As soon as you get liquid on an electronic item (water, coffee, etc) it is extremely important to shut it down / power off as soon as possible, remove the batteries, and TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN. Only then attempt to use a cloth/tissue paper to wipe the liquid off. Firstly, damage to electronics occurs not immediate, but later when corrosion occurs after some time. Secondly, while you can wipe the liquid off the surface, it has probably already spread down openings and gaps inside the device. Hence the urgent need to turn the device upside down.
