Turn off sharing of USER files in Windows 7
Even if you go thru the trouble of disabling file sharing in general, and of going manually thru folder permissions and disabling sharing, you will still see your USER files (My Documents, for example) as being actively shared.
There is only one way to disable this.
After turning off sharing in general, and modifying folder permissions, do the following.
Click "Start" and type
fsmgmt.msc [press Enter]
This will run a Shared folders management console. The purpose of this utility is described thus "This allows you to share any folder inside or outside your "users" folder and to set specific permissions on it without risking accidentally sharing your "users" folder. It even has a wizard for the non-technical user."
Remove USER sharing from within this utility, and you will see that USER files will no longer be shared.
